The location of the Village is disclosed. You have to build a relationship with other survivors either via in-game radio or by meeting them. They might eventually guide you the way.

ooc: We decided to keep the current location of the Village disclosed to protect it from random griefing and attacks. Also finding the Village by use of radio and in-game contact can be a lot of fun, too!

Rene put it in simple words that describe it all: "No rules, build and maintain a village!". To guarantee the best possible gaming experience for our players we encourage organic role-play with just a very limited set of rules mainly focusing on glitchers, hackers, griefers and alike.

The Guard forces have been installed to secure The Village, defend it against attackers and keep an eye on visitors and residents. The Guard Captains oversee the guard personnel and are responsible for new applications and coordination of the guards in general. As of October 28th, 2017 the Village is being protected by it's players again. The Guards have been made a regular faction. Also the Village Alliance has been formed uniting all friendly factions dedicated to protect the village. See the faction section for more details about members and allies.

Guards do have the right to enforce peace and order within The Village - even with lethal force if required. If you witness wrongful behavior contact the Guard Captains.

Take a deep breath! The fine folks at Spaggie's team are doing a great job keeping the game server up and running but also a fun experience for everybody. Sometimes players are being banned automatically (e.g. for existing VAC bans, high ping, suspicious behaviour). Those bans happen prematurely and might be lifted after you've filed a ban-appeal via http://www.spaggie.com/unban/.

However players are also being banned for breaking the game server rules (e.g. use of third party voice communication like TeamSpeak or Discord or despawning public player bases). If you still think a server ban was unwarranted please also file your ban-appeal at http://www.spaggie.com/unban

The use of external voice chat applications (e.g. TeamSpeak or Discord) is prohibited. We encourage users to use in-game voice chat and radios. Please also refrain from using the text chat. Believe us this really adds to the whole atmosphere on The Village!

The unannounced change of in-game names is prohibited. However you are allowed to change your character's name by sending a name-change-request via support ticket. That way we are able to retrace changes if problems occur.

We also encourage our users to use the same name on all three platforms (Discord, Game-Server and Website). You can change your name on the website accordingly once every 180 days via User Account Management.

These points define your current rank on the page.

To maintain an experience that makes everybody happy moderatos and admin have the possibility to give away negative points as a warning. Once a user received 50 negative points he will be put on probation for 24h and loses all write access to the forums. Once he reaches 100 negative points he will permanently lose all privileges and will be removed from the community. In case you really need guidance on how to behave in a community visit this page. If you fail to follow these rules you will be put under quarantine.

You may have noticed the menu point "Wiki" which basically is a knowledge-database divided into categories and sub-categories. Feel free to add appropriate and interesting entries to any of the categories (e.g. your faction or clan or a basic information about the SKS rifle). Please use a neutral "factual wiki tone" within your entries. All entries are subject to moderation. You can also edit other's entries if you need to complete or add. These edits are also subject to moderation.

Some basic explanation:

• Title - The headline of your article, please make this brief and factual.
• Synonyms - Words affiliated with your article (and therefore highlighted around the website)
• Categories - "Barely Infected" for general articles and "The Village" for Village related articles.
• Abstract - a brief description. This will be the displayed when hovering with your mouse above a highlighted word or phrase (e.g. factions).
• General Description - A neutral and factual description of the topic. Please read this article on how to write a Wiki entry. You can also add attachments (pictures) to your article.

Many members of the DayZ Village community hang out on the official Discord channel for some chit chat or to discuss in-game topics or make appointments. Discord is a free multi-platform chat program that can be downloaded here. After installation click this link to generate an instant invite to the Barely Infected server.

The staff is trying to keep our Discord server a nice and tidy place free of racism, pornography and other stupidities like trolling and harassment. Players usually receive a first kick-warning or a 24h probation ban before a permanent ban kicks in.

If you think you got banned for unfair reasons use the support ticket system on the website and open a Discord ticket. Please make sure to fill in all required fields to speed up the support process.

Our moderators try to be all around the Discord channels 24/7. But there's a lot of traffic going on and we might have missed something. If you find another user's posting or username disturbing or inappropriate please type "!report" into the chat. Our friendly bot will immediately notify all available staffers.

In case none of the team is available please make use of the "Block" option to disable any further content coming from the particular user (right click his name and select "Block"). Please make sure to use the "!report" option anyway so we can deal with the post and user at a later time.

Please note that we will not tolerate toying around with the report function for no reason.
