I havent found much time to look around, so let me know what you guys think and if there are possible locations like this.

The lumber mill west of Sinistock and the nearby farm could both be secured as a sort of compound village. With the lumber mill's concrete walls providing a secure area, and the cyclone fencing of the farm making more of a defined area of less security. There is only one gate and two breaches in the lumber mill walls, which could be blocked.

Both areas could be made to have controlled entry points; while the lumber mill can be designated as a command and security center, and the farm with the well can be the common area for villagers congregating and trading, farming, and for villagers to stake-out their personal tents. The blue door metal catwalk shed would provide relatively secure overwatch despite not being bullet-proof, and there are good sightlines in every direction but the west/northwest.

In the case of an attack, villagers could evacuate to the lumber mill and take shelter in the red-door garages until the all-clear is sounded. This would leave the blue-door structure and mill itself secure for defensive purposes, and keep known noncombatants well out of harm's way. Evacuating villagers could secure the immediate area around the lumber mill and then hunker down inside the red door garages after entering the compound; allowing the guards to focus on incoming attackers from any other directions.

I realize this might not be exactly what you were looking for, being two separate areas, but I think this type of structure could have an advantage in separating the chaos of an attack, and providing a securable open area between the two sections along the road. Villagers could be directed to always approach the village farm first, and then get cleared to approach the mill.

The area has open sightlines in all directions except for the northwest woods, to which both areas have complimentary overlapping views. Damage is compartmentalized between each section of the village, and the area in general is of good strategic value with its easy access to the main northern corridor highway.

Polite note: Saying hello, and not killing people for no apparent reason generally confirms that you are worth the time to feed some high-quality steaks.

In rare cases, if you lose a gunfight and don't immediately log out, you will still get some steaks and perhaps a reverse-robbery as a sign of goodwill. Accidents happen afterall.

I usually try to wear all crafted leather, dyed dark with nails. If you shoot at me, you are most likely wasting ammo ruining stuff I would have gladly handed over anyways.

Any help is always appreciated. And anyone with a cargo truck or bus running well, stands a chance to profit from moving a few things around when I'm online.

Check 91.3 every 90 degrees for details.

Since a bulletin board isn't quite offered in-game, and notes are still out, I propose that we try assigning a radio channel to player requests for things, to create a server-wide voluntary economy.

I'll be checking 91.3 every 90 degrees. So if you want to make a deal, hop on your radio at the most convenient quarter-hour to see if we can work something out.

There are a few things that I always want, like portable gas stoves, gas bottles, cow and deer pelts, Longhorn with scope, and access to a cargo truck from time-to time. 5.56 rounds also welcome.

I usually have meat to offer, leather vests, garden lime, batteries, burlap and rope. Also willing to provide escort, vehicle recovery assistance, and delivery of packages.

Right now, I am looking for five portable gas stoves. Name your price and expected delivery date, and we'll see if we can make a deal. :)

I got killed twice yesterday by no-speak "bandits" First time was two guys camping the well in Guglovo, where one guy got hosed rushing my house, and the second was camping my door from across the street prone. Then I hopped on for a little bit after maintenance late last night and ran past a player in the woods near the roadblock; hopefully I traded, but I wasted a little time trying to talk to him first.

In both cases, my use of the radio, and/or talking directly to the person was directly responsible for my death

So in my opinion, we do need more players who see interaction as something more than spamming left click...

Regarding radios, I think it would be a good thing to develop a set of protocols for the different channels.

Obviously, most people will use the default radio channel, and I have talked to a number of people the past couple days on the default channel, but perhaps a regional and functional structure can be developed. I don't want to interfere with guards defending the base while I am approaching. I think that the defense channel should perhaps be separated from the incoming villager check-in channel, and that both should be assigned off default channel so that random radio checks won't interfere with village priority communications.

Devil's Castle would be an awesome location to try out, both because of the defensive potential and the sheer size of the enclosure. The few times i was at the Zub village, I noticed it was pretty chaotic with all the crosstalk, so having a large enough area that multiple groups can talk independently seems like a major plus to me.

NEAF seems to be large enough suit the need for communication space, and has some novel amenities too. It also wouldn't cause castle burn out, so I guess that's good too.

This idea sounds good, but it would be an organizational nightmare in a village area as small as zub. Making a streamlined process for voluntary disarming of visitors would require a lot of civilian tents to keep different arrivals' kit separate and secure, as well as a designated person in charge to prevent the inevitable uptrading. There is also the question of what happens when an attacker takes out a few guards, and the unarmed villagers make a run on the gun-check tents. I think an implicit good-faith premise of the village is that everyone can leave with what they arrived with, and a weapon check system make each villager's most prized possessions vulnerable.

If I had to leave my AUG to the mercy of the guards and the chaos of the village, I'd probably just stay outside and watch my truck while villagers unloaded it, then leave.

    That's my two cents.

    Hello everyone.

I started playing DayZ in early 2015, and have since logged over 4000 hours and pretty much entirely stopped using my xbox after years of being a console gamer. DayZ is so unlike any other games that I have seen, and the village is the most unique and interesting thing I've seen come from this game since I started playing. I primarily play as a ranger/survivalist, preferring to cover large portions of the map in each session. Much of my early play was as a lone wolf or small group hoarder. Lately my focus has been on group support and logistics, and trying to keep as many vehicles running at a time as possible. I've taken a liking to bulk food production, so if I spot a herd of cows, I'm likely to take off looking for a truck or bus so I can bring back enough meat to feed a few people for a few days.

I first came to the village six days ago after the move to Zub, and I must say, it takes a bit of getting used to from my previous playstyle. I suppose I just happened to walk in at a time when things seemed organized and regimented, but soon witnessed the utter chaos that a violent incursion can bring. I love the concept, and am in awe at seeing the congregation of so many like minded players. Despite that, I have an individualist streak that makes prolonged stays at the village pretty nerve wracking. I plan to establish a supply chain further inland, and provide material support for the sustainment and defense of the village. If I can ever drive a vehicle for more than ten minutes without a fatal desync event, I'll be able to deliver a steady supply of fresh meat, tools and other consumables in exchange for safe passage.

I'm in my early thirties, and live in US pacific time zone. I enjoy fishing, gardening, and taking my dog on long hikes in the hills. I work in the trades, and spend a fair amount of my time in DayZ just unwinding and resting--zoning out as I run across the map, browsing the news, BS'ing with friends, checkin out dank memes, and occasionally cooking myself IRL dinner while trying not to get eaten by wolves. When in a group, and "it's on" we can get quite a lot done in a short amount of time. Before they went and ruined the woods with all those saplings and fallen logs, I fancied myself one of the better drivers in chernarus. Still do, but with much less puckering than before.

Hopefully the server situation will stabilizes, and I'll get to meet more of you at the village soon.
